LinkedIn can be a tough place to hang out.
It can be easy to think everyone’s ‘crushing’ it, ‘slaying’ it, ‘bossing’ it, doing great things. Celebrating successes, launching new ventures, proclaiming with confidence and authority on important matters. Effortlessly racking up more 👍s, ❤️s and positive comments than we could ever hope for from thousands and thousands more followers than we could ever hope for. Piloting unerring paths to stratospheric success 🚀.
Sometimes it can feel like we’re the only ones that aren’t doing great things. That aren’t celebrating successes, launching new ventures, proclaiming anything with any confidence or authority. Like we’re the only ones whose progress has stalled – or never really got going in the first place – and whose futures look far from certain.
If you’re having one of those moments, I offer this encouragement:
🔷 No one has it all figured out. We all stall or hit turbulence at some point on our journey. And it’s only in the tough times that we can learn how resourceful, resilient and creative we truly are. It’s how we respond that counts.
🔷 Comparison truly is the thief of joy. If you’re inspired by others’ successes, great. But life isn’t a competition. What your friends, family, former classmates and colleagues are up to really doesn’t matter. You have your own unique strengths. Run your own race. And run it as best you can 🏃♀️🏃♂️.
